PHONE CALLS FROM THE DEAD

Ghosts and spirits that prefer to hang around a particular location have their ways of making contact with the living. Making noise, moving items, playing with lights, opening and closing doors are just a few of their favorite ways to get people’s attention. Of course, the list of things they are capable of doing is quite long, as many people are aware.

Making phone calls from the afterlife is another of their methods of checking in with those they left behind.

Yep, it’s a real ‘thing”. There have been literally countless reports of people being contacted by deceased friends and loved ones from all around the world. The phone calls all have three things in common:

1) They are generally pretty short conversations.

2) Caller ID display rarely reports the caller’s name.

3) Tracing the call using *69 or other methods will not work.

The phone call recipient usually reports that they heard the deceased person saying “hello” repeatedly, or the caller said a brief message before ending the call. Often, the phone line sounds staticky. As a general rule, the caller`s voice is usually easily recognized.

Phone calls from the dead have been the topic of quite a few movies over the years (because let’s face it, it is VERY interesting indeed) and have been widely reported by normal, everyday people after the loss of a loved one. The calls have been received whether the caller has recently deceased or has been gone for some time.

Nova Scotia is teeming with folklore, forerunners, superstitions and really mysterious experiences from all paranormal walks of life. The Grim Reaper himself can’t swing his scythe without hitting a bunch of people who have personally had unexplainable stuff happen to them. So you wouldn’t have to look very far to find someone who has gotten one of these phone calls.

In fact, you wouldn’t have to look past Lunenburg County. My mother is one hundred percent convinced that she has personally received two phone calls from people who were dead.
You can check them out here:

I believe there was a third time, as well. The day her life-long friend passed away, she received a silent, untraceable call that she thinks originated from the deceased friend.

Additionally, I was recently informed about an empty house in Nova Scotia, where the caretaker and his family members entered the home to pick up some legal papers. The phone in that house had been disconnected and unplugged, with the cord wound around it. Yet, while they were there, it began to ring. It rang quite a few times, but no one had the nerve to answer it.

Recently, I read about a man who answered his phone and he recognized the caller’s voice immediately. It was his brother’s recently deceased friend, named Joe. Joe said, “I’ve been trying to reach your brother. Something really weird is going on.”

The call ended and the man was bothered for days by this. Can’t say I blame him. Sounds like Joe lost his sense of direction when trying to navigate to the afterlife and can’t figure out where he should be…or how to get there.

Do I think there’s a phone booth in the afterlife with a long line of spirits waiting to use it to call home? I highly doubt it but how would I know? It’s probably more likely that the caller concentrates all their afterlife energy just by picturing a phone and voila, your phone starts ringing. Maybe that’s easier for them than manifesting themselves beside your bedside at 3 a.m. But again, I don’t know the rules and specifics. I only know people it’s happened to and chalk it up to another one of life’s great mysteries.

The next time your phone rings, I hope you remember this.

I also hope, for the sake of all things paranormal, that there isn’t a living person on the other end.

Because how cool would that be?
